Everything goes in polycarts
Ocean Isle Beach requires all trash to be inside town polycarts. Bags left beside the cart count as littering, so plan how you’ll get rid of packing waste before move day.
Check the seasonal schedule
Starting in October, trash is collected on Tuesdays only and recycling every other Tuesday. Friday pickups stop at the end of the summer season.
Plan truck parking
Paid parking is enforced April 1 through October 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in designated spaces at beach access areas. It’s free before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., so an early start helps.
Watch storm bridge closures
The bridge to the island closes when sustained winds reach about 50 mph. During storm re-entry, only property owners with decals are allowed back at first, and trailers are not permitted in that stage.
Big items off-island
Items that can’t go curbside have to be taken to the county convenience site in Sunset Beach. Hours vary, so call 910-579-9932 before you go.
