Best Wayne, PA Moving Company

Wayne is a Main Line town without its own government. The downtown and most of the older streets sit in Radnor Township in Delaware County, while the Wayne mailing address also reaches into Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County. Our crews move families, downsizers, and renters all over the Wayne area as part of our Tri-State moving service, and we know that one address can mean three very different kinds of moves.

Downtown Wayne grew up around the train station and Lancaster Avenue, which is US 30. The Wayne Hotel, the Anthony Wayne Theater, and blocks of shops line the avenue, with more stores and restaurants up North Wayne Avenue. Trains on the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale Line stop at Wayne station, so many commuters like to live within a short walk of it. Some people here live in apartments or condos above storefronts or in small buildings near the station. Lancaster Avenue is busy all day, and parking is tight, so we plan a legal loading spot ahead of time and bring the right size truck. Some Radnor streets also have permit parking, so we check your block before moving day.

North and South Wayne are full of big old homes. Much of this area was planned in the 1880s as the Wayne Estate by A.J. Drexel and George W. Childs, so you see stone and shingle houses, deep porches, wide staircases, and mature trees on almost every street. These homes are beautiful but hard on furniture. Narrow back stairs, tight landings, and long walks from the curb are common. We pad floors and railings, take apart large pieces, and move antiques and pianos with extra care. We also bring floor runners so muddy boots never touch old hardwood.

Outside the Radnor side, many Wayne addresses are in newer neighborhoods. Chesterbrook in Tredyffrin has townhomes, condos, and apartments, while other parts of Tredyffrin and Upper Merion have larger single homes on bigger lots with long driveways. If you are selling one house and waiting on another, our storage service can hold your things until the new place is ready.

We also move families nearby in Bryn Mawr and King of Prussia, plus long-distance moves out of the area. A & M Friendly Movers is family-owned since 2015, and we treat every Wayne move like we are moving our own neighbors. Our mission is simple: quality, professional service at a fair price. Home is where the heart is, and moving is where it starts. Call 410-499-8777 for a free quote.

Moving in Wayne: Local Tips From Our Crew

Parking, trash pickup, traffic and building rules can make or break moving day in Wayne. Here’s what we plan around.

Confirm your township first

Wayne is centered in Radnor Township but extends into Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County, so trash and permit rules depend on your address.

Line up a Tredyffrin hauler

Trash and recycling in Tredyffrin are privatized, so residents contract with an approved hauler; the Township suggests asking neighbors which hauler serves their street.

Weekly trash is required

Tredyffrin requires municipal waste collection at least once a week, recycling at least every other week, and leaf waste pickup at least once a month.

Villanova moves span two campuses

Starting in the 2026-27 academic year, about 900 Villanova sophomores live on the Cabrini Campus and about 900 on the main Villanova Campus.

Plan around the Blue Route

US 30 runs east-west through Radnor on Lancaster Avenue, and I-476 (the Blue Route) runs north-south with an interchange at US 30.

What Shapes Your Wayne Move Cost

No surprises. Here is exactly what goes into your quote, so you can plan with confidence.

Home Size

How many rooms and how much furniture. A condo and a four-bedroom house are very different jobs.

Distance

Across town, across Delaware County, or out of state. Local moves are hourly; long-distance moves are priced upfront.

Access

Move time in Wayne depends on finding a legal loading spot near busy Lancaster Avenue, permit parking on some Radnor streets, and narrow stairs and long carries at older homes in North and South Wayne.

Add-Ons

Packing, storage, furniture assembly, and heavy items like pianos and safes.
