The City of Westminster is the county seat of Carroll County, about 36 miles northwest of Baltimore by car. It has a long historic Main Street, McDaniel College on the hill at the west end of town, and busy shopping centers along MD 140. Homes in Westminster come in a lot of shapes. Near Main Street you will find older brick and frame houses, rowhomes and apartments above storefronts, many with steep front steps, narrow staircases and tight turns at the landing. MD 140 is the main road through town, running east toward Reisterstown and I-795 and west toward Taneytown. MD 97 heads north toward Union Mills and the Pennsylvania line, and MD 27 and MD 32 lead toward Manchester and Sykesville. Morning traffic on MD 140 toward Baltimore can back up, so we plan start times around it.
