Carolina Forest recycling center
Carolina Forest is unincorporated Horry County, so residents use county drop-off centers. The one at 800 International Drive is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, but it is closed Thursdays.
Four cubic yards daily
County ordinance limits each resident to 4 cubic yards of material a day at the recycling centers, and only unincorporated-county residents can use them. Spread a big cleanout over several trips.
Donate usable furniture
Furniture in good condition can go in the “Store” drop-off shed at the Carolina Forest center or to The Store at 1874 Hwy 90 in Conway. Broken pieces and mattresses go in the center’s bulk waste containers.
No foam or peanuts
Styrofoam and packing peanuts can’t be recycled in Horry County. Put foam in bulk waste at the center, and put the peanuts in the trash or offer them to a shipping store.
Use the Carolina Bays Parkway
SC 31 (the Carolina Bays Parkway) is a six-lane, limited-access highway that runs from SC 9 to SC 707 around Myrtle Beach. It’s often an easier truck route than local roads.
