Socastee is unincorporated Horry County. The county’s Socastee center at 4670 Jones Rd., off SC 544 west of the Waterway, is open every day: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Scipio Lane alternative
The Scipio Lane center at 9610 Scipio Lane, off Holmestown Road, has the same hours but is closed Thursdays. Each resident can drop off up to 4 cubic yards a day.
Store drop-off shed
The Socastee center has a “Store” drop-off shed for furniture in good condition. Broken furniture and mattresses go in its bulk waste containers.
No foam or peanuts
Styrofoam and packing peanuts aren’t recyclable in Horry County. Put foam in bulk waste at the center, and put the peanuts in the trash or offer them to a shipping store.
Paint goes to Conway
Leftover paint and household chemicals go to the Solid Waste Authority’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 1886 Hwy 90 in Conway, open Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon.
