Best Kure Beach, NC Moving Company

Kure Beach is a small oceanfront town on Pleasure Island, about 15 miles south of Wilmington. The Town of Kure Beach stretches about 3.5 miles along the coast but covers less than a square mile, so most streets are only a few blocks long. US 421, also called Fort Fisher Boulevard, carries almost all of the traffic, and it is the only road onto the island from the mainland.

The 2020 Census counted about half of the homes in Kure Beach as vacant, since so many are second homes and vacation rentals. Typical homes are older beach cottages, raised houses on pilings, and small condo buildings, with the lettered avenues like K Avenue running toward the ocean near the pier. Raised homes mean outside stairs and older cottages mean tight driveways, so we walk the property with you and plan the carry before we load. With so few roads, a single parked car or delivery truck on a short block can change where our truck fits, and we plan for that too.

Kure Beach is quiet in the off season and busy in summer. Visitors to the Kure Beach Fishing Pier, built in 1923, and the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher fill the road on warm weekends, so summer moves go best early in the morning. Fort Fisher State Historic Site, just to the south, adds more visitor traffic on spring and fall weekends. From June through November we watch hurricane season, and there is never a fee to reschedule if a storm is on the way.

The median age in Kure Beach is about 57, and many moves here are downsizing, retirement or second-home moves. Cottages here can hold decades of belongings, so we are glad to help sort what goes, what stays and what should be stored. Our packing and unpacking service can box up the whole house or just the fragile pieces, and we take beds and tables apart and set them back up. If your closing dates do not line up, our storage service can hold your things.

We also help families in Carolina Beach, Wilmington and Leland, along with long-distance moves out of the Cape Fear region. Family-owned since 2015, A & M Friendly Movers treats every Kure Beach move like we are helping our own neighbors. Our mission is simple: quality, professional service at a fair price. Home is where the heart is, and moving is where it starts. Call 910-758-0081 for a free quote.
