Best Bear, DE Moving Company
Bear sits along US 40 in southern New Castle County, about 14 miles south of Wilmington. It started as a farm crossroads with only about 50 residents in 1890, and today more than 22,000 people live here. Most of that growth came from housing developments and shopping centers built along US 40 starting in the late 1980s and 1990s.
That history shapes what moves look like here. Bear has townhomes, apartments, and single-family homes in planned communities, and about a third of households rent, so we do plenty of apartment moves as well as house moves. Apartment moves mean stairwells and sometimes a reserved elevator, and many townhome and condo communities have rules on truck parking and move hours. Tell us what applies and we will plan around it. We also take beds and tables apart, pad furniture for the stairs, and put everything back together in the new place so you can sleep in your own bed that night.
Getting around is mostly about three roads. US 40 (Pulaski Highway) runs east and west through town, Route 7 crosses it and runs toward Christiana to the north and Red Lion to the south, and Route 1 gives quick access to I-95 and toward Dover. The area around the US 40 and Route 7 junction can get busy at rush hour, so we time the truck to avoid it when we can. For longer trips, we also handle long-distance moves.
Bear is served mainly by the Christina School District, with part of the area in the Colonial School District. Lums Pond State Park, home to the largest freshwater pond in Delaware, is a favorite for walking, fishing, and boating. Bear also has a branch of the New Castle County library system, and the Amtrak and Norfolk Southern rail yards nearby are a reminder of how connected this part of the county is. For a meal after the boxes are unpacked, locals like Route 40 Diner and Trattoria Di Napoli. If you want help packing, we can do the whole house or just the kitchen and fragile items.
We also serve nearby New Castle, Newark, and Middletown, so a move anywhere in New Castle County is close to home for us. A & M Friendly Movers is family-owned since 2015, and we treat every Bear move like we are moving our own family. Our mission is simple: quality, professional service at a fair price. Home is where the heart is, and moving is where it starts. Call 410-499-8777 for a free quote.
