Best Tampa, FL Moving Company
A & M Friendly Movers is reopening our location in Tampa, and we are glad to be back. Our main focus is Hillsborough County, including Tampa itself, East Tampa, Brandon, and Riverview. Whether you are moving across town or across the country, we want to earn your trust one move at a time. As a returning local mover, we are building our Tampa schedule now, so calling early gives you the best choice of dates.
Tampa has almost every kind of home you can think of. South Tampa neighborhoods like Hyde Park and Palma Ceia have older homes on narrow, tree-lined streets where a big truck needs a careful plan. Seminole Heights is full of 1920s bungalows with front porches and tight driveways. Downtown and the Channel District have high-rise condos and apartments, where we book freight elevators, send insurance paperwork to the building, and work within set move hours.
East of downtown, East Tampa has many single-family homes on regular city lots, and out in Brandon and Riverview you will find newer subdivisions, townhomes, and apartment complexes. Many of those neighborhoods have HOA or deed rules about where trucks can park and when work can start. Tell us what your community allows and we will plan the day around it. Two-story homes with carpeted stairs are common in these newer areas, so we bring floor and banister protection and the right crew size.
Getting around Tampa takes planning. Traffic on I-275, I-4, I-75, and the Selmon Expressway can turn a short trip into a long one at rush hour, and summer afternoon storms are part of life here. We plan early starts, keep your things covered from the rain, and build in time for the drive. Hurricane season runs from June through November, so we watch the forecast closely and keep you posted if weather changes the plan. We can also help with packing and unpacking or long-distance moves out of the Tampa area.
Beyond the city, we are taking moves in Brandon, Riverview, East Tampa, and the rest of Hillsborough County. You can learn more on our Florida movers page. A & M Friendly Movers is family-owned since 2015, and as we reopen here, we plan to treat every Tampa family like a neighbor. Looking for movers in Tampa or moving companies in Tampa? “Excellent experience! We have moved 11 times and once overseas and A&M is in the top two moves! They communicate well and there are no curveballs. Chris, Zack & “Ox” were hard working, courteous and professional. They moved us quickly and took great care with our property. When initially speaking with Matt, he realized I was a Veteran and he immediately offered a Veteran’s discount. I would highly recommend A&M Friendly Movers because they live their name!”

Moving in Tampa: Local Tips From Our Crew
Parking, trash pickup, traffic and building rules can make or break moving day in Tampa. Here’s what we plan around.
Book SWEEP bulky pickup
City of Tampa residential customers get one SWEEP pickup a year for bulky or excess items, up to 10 cubic yards at no extra charge, on a set neighborhood schedule. Check your SWEEP date early so old furniture can go out close to moving day.
Keep recyclables loose
Tampa asks that recyclables go in the cart loose and never bagged, because bagged material is not recycled. Don’t jam boxes into the cart where they can get stuck; flatten extra cardboard and take it to the city’s public recycling drop-off.
Mind cart set-out times
Set trash and recycling carts at the curb the night before pickup or by 6 a.m., with 3 feet of clearance on every side. Leave that space clear of the moving truck and bring carts back in by the end of collection day.
Plan around I-275 bridges
I-275 crosses Old Tampa Bay on the Howard Frankland Bridge, the busiest of the bay’s bridges, and meets I-4 downtown. For moves to or from Pinellas County, the Gandy Bridge and Courtney Campbell Causeway are the other two crossings.
Watch hurricane season
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and activity peaks from mid-August to mid-October. If you’re moving in those months, keep your date flexible and watch the forecast the week before.
What Shapes Your Tampa Move Cost
No surprises. Here is exactly what goes into your quote, so you can plan with confidence.
Home Size
How many rooms and how much furniture. A condo and a four-bedroom house are very different jobs.
Distance
Across town, across Hillsborough County, or out of state. Local moves are hourly; long-distance moves are priced upfront.
Access
High-rise elevator bookings downtown, tight streets in older neighborhoods, rush-hour traffic on I-275, I-4 and the Selmon Expressway, and afternoon summer storms can all affect move time.
Add-Ons
Packing, storage, furniture assembly, and heavy items like pianos and safes.
