Local vs. Long-Distance Moving Costs
Moving across town and moving across the country are priced in two completely different ways. Here is how each one works, so you can read a quote without guessing.
How Local Moves Are Priced
Every local move is billed by the hour. Your hourly rate depends on your crew size and your location, and we put it in writing before moving day.
- The clock starts when we arrive at your home, not when we leave our office. You are never charged for our drive to you.
- The clock stops when we finish at your final destination, after your furniture is reassembled and in place.
- We bill in 15-minute increments, so you pay for the time we actually work.
- There is a 3-hour minimum, so even small jobs get a full, careful crew.

These ranges multiply our hourly rates by typical move times and cover the move itself: loading, driving between homes, unloading, and taking apart and putting back together your furniture. Packing, boxes and supplies, and specialty items are extra. Your exact rate is confirmed in writing with your free quote and can vary by location.

How Long-Distance Moves Are Priced
Long-distance moves are not billed by the hour. You get a binding estimate: one flat price that does not change after you book, even if you add a few things.

Which One Is My Move?
A move within the same area is a local move. A move to another state or a long way across the region is quoted as long-distance. Some in-state moves can be priced either way, so tell us your pickup and delivery addresses and we will confirm how yours is billed before you book.
