YORK AREA MOVING LABOR
Moving Labor: Loading & Unloading Help in York, PA
Hourly crews to load or unload your rental truck or container, or move heavy furniture within your home. No truck needed.
Sometimes you have the truck and just need the muscle. Maybe you rented a moving truck for a trip down I-83 into Maryland, have a PODS container sitting in your Hanover driveway, or need a heavy sectional carried down to the basement. A & M Friendly Movers provides hourly moving labor across south-central Pennsylvania from our York office in Mount Wolf.
We serve York, Red Lion, Dallastown, Shrewsbury, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hershey, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Lititz, Ephrata and Elizabethtown. Our crews load rental trucks and containers the right way: heavy items low and forward, furniture wrapped and tied off, boxes stacked tight so nothing shifts on the road. We unload at the other end too, and we move furniture room to room or floor to floor for families rearranging or getting ready to sell. This is labor only, priced hourly by crew size, with no truck needed from us.
Every mover is a background-checked, drug-tested W-2 employee. Learn more about our local moving services, see our York movers page, or call 717-844-5125.
Why York-Area DIY Movers Choose A & M for Labor
Loaded to Ride Safely
A rental truck or container packed wrong can shift on the first curve, and there are plenty of hills and curves between York County and wherever you are headed. Our crews load heavy furniture and appliances first, build tight tiers of boxes, and strap and pad as they go, so your things have the best chance of arriving the way they left.
Real Employees, Not Day Labor
When you hire labor only, you still want to know who is walking into your home. Every A & M mover is a background-checked, drug-tested W-2 employee, never a subcontractor or a day laborer. You get experienced movers who do this every day, working in your home and handling your things with care.
Rowhomes and Basements
Getting a couch out of a York or Lancaster rowhome, or a treadmill out of a basement in Red Lion, takes technique. We take furniture apart when needed, pad railings and walls, and work the tight turns carefully. Hardware gets bagged and labeled, and we can reassemble pieces once they reach the new place.
Crews Ready for Winter
Loading a truck on an icy driveway in January is no one’s idea of fun. Our crews lay floor runners, take care on slick steps and ramps, and keep a steady pace even in cold weather. If snow makes the day unsafe, you can reschedule with no fee, ever, for any reason, and we will find the next good day.
Simple Hourly Pricing
Moving labor is priced hourly by crew size, so you pay only for the help you need. Tell us the truck or container size and what is going in it, and an owner or our office calls back within 15 minutes, 8am to 8pm, with a quote. A $100 deposit holds your date and applies to the job.
Our Owner's Promise
Even on labor-only jobs, you talk to an owner, not a call center. If anything is damaged, an owner calls you the same day, and claims are resolved in 60 to 90 days. A & M Friendly Movers has been family-owned since 2015 and has earned 850+ Google reviews across five locations.

York-Area Moving Labor FAQs
Moving labor is priced hourly by crew size. The total depends on how much you are loading, the truck or container size and the access at your home, like stairs or a long driveway. Request a quote and an owner or our office calls back within 15 minutes, 8am to 8pm, to recommend the right size crew.
No truck is needed. Moving labor means our crew comes to load or unload the rental truck or container you have arranged, or to move furniture within your home. If you decide you would rather have us handle the truck too, ask about our full-service local and long-distance moves.
Yes. We load PODS and other portable containers for moves anywhere. Since the container is moved with your belongings inside, we load it tight and evenly, with heavy items on the bottom and furniture wrapped and secured. If it is headed to one of our other service areas, ask about unloading help there too.
Yes. We move heavy furniture room to room or between floors for families rearranging, remodeling or preparing a home for sale. Pianos and gun safes are specialty items, so mention them when you call. We can take apart and reassemble beds, tables and other pieces as part of the job.
Rental pickups and container deliveries do not always run on time. If your schedule changes, call our office. There is no rescheduling fee, ever, for any reason. Your $100 deposit stays applied to the job, and we will work with you to find the next available time.
