YORK & SOUTH-CENTRAL PA MOVERS
Local Moving in York & South-Central Pennsylvania
Hourly local moves across York, Adams, Lancaster and the Harrisburg area, handled by our own background-checked crews.
Moving across town in York, or from Red Lion up to Mechanicsburg, still takes real planning. Our York office in Mount Wolf sends crews all over south-central Pennsylvania: Harrisburg, Hershey, Carlisle, Hanover, Dallastown, Shrewsbury, Gettysburg, Chambersburg and the Lancaster County towns of Lititz, Ephrata and Elizabethtown.
Local moves here come with their own quirks. City rowhomes in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster often have tight turning stairways and parking right on the street. Farmhouses out in Adams and York Counties can sit at the end of a long gravel lane. Winter brings snow and ice to every one of them. Our crews plan for all of it before the truck leaves the lot, so moving day stays calm.
A & M Friendly Movers is family-owned and run day to day by Matthew Treharn and Amber Hallaman. Every mover is a background-checked, drug-tested W-2 employee, and our local moving service is priced hourly by crew size. See everything we do in the region on our York movers page, or call the office at 717-844-5125.
Why York-Area Families Choose A & M for Local Moves
Our Own W-2 Crews
The people carrying your furniture work for us. Every crew member is a background-checked, drug-tested W-2 employee, never a subcontractor or a day laborer picked up that morning. That matters when a crew is inside your York rowhome or your parents’ Hanover ranch house for the day, and it is how we keep the quality the same from job to job.
Rowhome Stairs Are Routine
Older homes in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster were built with narrow, steep stairways and small doorways. Our crews pad banisters, take doors off hinges when needed, and disassemble beds and tables so they come down the stairs without scraping plaster. We also plan truck placement around street parking so loading does not turn into a long carry down the block.
Winter Moves Done Safely
Pennsylvania winters do not wait for your closing date. When snow or ice hits York and Adams Counties, our crews lay floor protection, work carefully on slick steps and walkways, and adjust timing on the roads. If the weather forces a change, there is no rescheduling fee, ever, for any reason. We simply find the next good day together.
Hourly Pricing, Honest Quotes
Local moves are priced hourly by crew size, so you pay for the crew and time your move actually needs. When you request a quote, an owner or our office calls you back within 15 minutes between 8am and 8pm. A $100 deposit holds your date and is applied to the move. We accept cards and checks, never cash.
Long Driveways, No Problem
Farmhouses and country properties around Gettysburg, Red Lion and the Lancaster County line often sit well back from the road. We ask about driveway length, surface and turnaround room when you book, so we send the right truck and crew. Knowing the property ahead of time keeps the day on schedule and your lawn in one piece.
An Owner Answers
Our Owner’s Promise is simple. You talk to an owner, not a call center. If anything is damaged, an owner calls you the same day, and claims are resolved in 60 to 90 days. With 850+ Google reviews across our five locations, we have built this business one family and one move at a time.
Our Local Moving Services in York & South-Central PA
Full-Service Home Moves
Loading, transport and unloading for houses, rowhomes and townhomes anywhere from Shrewsbury to Harrisburg. We wrap furniture, protect floors and doorways, and place everything in the right room at your new home so you are not dragging boxes around after the crew leaves.
Packing Help, Full or Partial
Let us pack the whole house or only the kitchen and the fragile pieces. We bring supplies and pack room by room, which helps when you are juggling a closing date, work and kids during a busy York County summer moving season.
Furniture Disassembly and Reassembly
Beds, dining tables, sectionals and cribs often have to come apart to fit through older Pennsylvania stairways. Our crews take them apart, bag and label the hardware, and put everything back together at the new place before they head out.
Rental Truck and PODS Loading
Already have a rental truck or a PODS container in the driveway? We provide the labor to load or unload it properly, with weight balanced and furniture wrapped, so it rides safely down I-83 or US-30 to wherever you are headed.
York & South-Central PA Local Moving FAQs
Local moves are priced hourly based on crew size, so the total depends on how much you have, the access at both homes and the drive between them. Call or request a quote and an owner or our office will call back within 15 minutes, 8am to 8pm, to talk through your move and give you a clear estimate.
Our office in Mount Wolf covers York and Adams Counties, including York, Hanover, Red Lion, Dallastown, Shrewsbury and Gettysburg. We also move families in Harrisburg, Hershey, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg and the Lancaster County towns of Lititz, Ephrata and Elizabethtown. Yes. Tight stairways are common in older York, Harrisburg and Lancaster rowhomes. We disassemble beds and tables, remove doors when needed, and pad railings and walls. If a piece truly cannot make the turn, we will tell you honestly before we try, rather than risk your furniture or your walls.
We watch the forecast with you. Our crews are used to moving in Pennsylvania winters, laying down floor protection and taking extra care on icy steps. If conditions are unsafe or you would rather wait, we reschedule with no fee. There is never a rescheduling fee at A & M Friendly Movers, for any reason.
A $100 deposit reserves your moving date, and it is applied to your final bill. We accept credit and debit cards, personal checks and certified checks. We do not accept cash. Once you are booked, you have a direct line to our office and an owner if anything changes before moving day.
