Packing Service Costs
Packing is the biggest way to change what a move costs. Here is how our packing service is billed, what makes it faster or slower, and how to decide how much to hand off.
How Packing Is Billed
Packing and unpacking are hourly services. The same rules as our moves apply: the clock starts when our crew arrives, we bill in 15-minute increments, and you get your rate in writing before we start.
Boxes and packing supplies are priced per item in our Box Shop. Wrapping and padding your furniture for the move is included at no extra charge.
What Drives Packing Time
Two homes with the same number of bedrooms can take very different amounts of time to pack. The biggest factors:
- Kitchens. Dishes, glassware and small appliances take the most care.
- Fragile items, art and mirrors
- Books and other heavy items that need small boxes
- Garages, attics, basements and sheds
- Closets and wardrobes
- How much you have already sorted and decluttered
