YORK AREA APPLIANCE MOVERS
Appliance Moving in York & South-Central Pennsylvania
Safe moves for refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges and freezers, from basement laundry rooms to farmhouse kitchens.
Appliances are some of the heaviest, most awkward things in a house, and in south-central Pennsylvania they tend to live in the hardest places to reach. Washers and dryers sit in basements at the bottom of steep stairs. Chest freezers hide in garages and farmhouse cellars. Refrigerators have to squeeze through rowhome kitchens in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster that were never designed for a modern French-door model.
A & M Friendly Movers moves appliances across the region from our York office in Mount Wolf, serving York, Hanover, Red Lion, Dallastown, Shrewsbury, Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Hershey, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Lititz, Ephrata and Elizabethtown. We pad and strap each unit, protect floors and door frames, and secure it in the truck. One important note: appliances need to be disconnected before moving day, including water, gas and power.
Every mover is a background-checked, drug-tested W-2 employee. Local appliance moves are priced hourly by crew size, and there is never a rescheduling fee. Read about our appliance moving service, see our York movers page, or call 717-844-5125.
Why York-Area Homeowners Trust A & M With Appliances
Basement Stairs Handled
Many older homes in York and Adams Counties keep the laundry in the basement, down narrow stairs with a low ceiling at the bottom. Our crews check the route, pad railings and walls, and strap washers and dryers securely before taking them up one step at a time. If a unit will not fit, we tell you before anything gets scratched.
Disconnected Before We Arrive
For safety, appliances must be disconnected before moving day. That means shutting off water to the fridge and washer, unplugging electric units, and having a qualified professional shut off and cap any gas line. Getting this done ahead keeps your move on schedule and lets our crew focus on careful lifting.
Winter Care for Appliances
Moving a washer in January? Water left in the hoses and drum can freeze in a cold truck. Drain washers well, empty ice makers and dry out freezers ahead of time. Our crews lay floor runners to keep snow and road salt off your floors while they carry heavy units in and out of the house.
Our Own W-2 Crews
The people moving your new refrigerator are A & M employees, background-checked and drug-tested, never subcontractors or day laborers. They answer to the owners, and they know a dented stainless door or a gouged hardwood floor is not acceptable. Careful handling is part of the job, not an extra you pay for.
Fair Hourly Pricing
Local appliance moves are priced hourly by crew size, so moving a single washer and dryer costs far less than a whole-house move. Call for a quote and an owner or our office calls back within 15 minutes, 8am to 8pm. There is never a rescheduling fee if your delivery or closing date changes.
Our Owner's Promise
You talk to an owner, not a call center. If an appliance or anything in your home is damaged, an owner calls you the same day, and claims are resolved in 60 to 90 days. A & M Friendly Movers is family-owned and run day to day by Matthew Treharn and Amber Hallaman, right here in the region.
Our Appliance Moving Services in York & South-Central PA
Refrigerators and Freezers
Standard, side-by-side and French-door refrigerators, plus upright and chest freezers. We wrap and strap each unit, protect the doors and flooring, and move it through tight kitchens and garages. Please defrost freezers and empty everything out before we arrive.
Washers and Dryers
We carry laundry pairs up from basements and down from second-floor laundry rooms, then set them in place at the new home. Make sure water and gas or electric are disconnected ahead of time so the crew can get right to work.
Ranges and Kitchen Appliances
Freestanding ranges, portable dishwashers, microwaves and smaller kitchen appliances travel padded and secured. Built-in units need to be disconnected and removed from the cabinetry by a qualified installer first, and then our crew moves them safely to the new kitchen.
Single-Item and In-Home Moves
Just bought a new fridge, or moving the old one to the garage or basement? We move single appliances across town or within the same house, from Hershey to Hanover. It is priced hourly by crew size, so small jobs stay reasonable.
York-Area Appliance Moving FAQs
Yes. Appliances must be disconnected before our crew arrives. Turn off and disconnect water lines, unplug electric units, and have a qualified professional shut off and cap any gas connection. Plan for reconnection at the new home as well, so you are not without a washer or range for long after the move.
Appliance moves in the York area are priced hourly by crew size, so a single washer costs less than a kitchen full of appliances. Access matters too, like basement stairs or a long walk from the street. Request a quote and an owner or our office calls back within 15 minutes, 8am to 8pm.
Often, yes, but measure first. Older rowhomes in York, Harrisburg and Lancaster can have narrow doorways and tight kitchen turns. Measure the fridge and your doorways and share the numbers when you book. Our crews can take house doors off their hinges and plan the route. If it truly will not fit, we will tell you honestly.
A little, yes. Water left in a washer or its hoses can freeze in a cold truck during a Pennsylvania winter. Drain it fully, disconnect and drain the hoses, and leave the lid open to dry. Do the same with refrigerator water lines and ice makers. It protects the machine and keeps water off your floors.
We accept credit and debit cards, personal checks and certified checks, but not cash. A $100 deposit at booking holds your date and is applied to the cost of your move. If your delivery date or closing moves, you can reschedule without a fee, for any reason.
