North and South Wayne are full of big old homes. Much of this area was planned in the 1880s as the Wayne Estate by A.J. Drexel and George W. Childs, so you see stone and shingle houses, deep porches, wide staircases, and mature trees on almost every street. These homes are beautiful but hard on furniture. Narrow back stairs, tight landings, and long walks from the curb are common. We pad floors and railings, take apart large pieces, and move antiques and pianos with extra care. Outside the Radnor side, many Wayne addresses are in newer neighborhoods. Chesterbrook in Tredyffrin has townhomes, condos, and apartments, while other parts of Tredyffrin and Upper Merion have larger single homes on bigger lots with long driveways.
